I am so excited to finally have  joined the WordPress World. My mom ,Trailerpark Barbie, has gone on and on about how great it is to blog and share the sordid details of  the goings on of our WTWM (White Trash with Money) lives and now I’ve decided to jump in as well.

I call myself a fruglista and my plan is to share some of the money saving tips I have gathered in my journey through life and you will either A) Say “Wow what a great idea” or B) Laugh at me  and say “Wow she has to be the cheapest woman in the world”. All comments landing in either category are welcome

Gotta give props though to my mom TPB and though she may poke fun, Trailer Park Midge (my sister) and I got our cheap ways from her.

So without further ado my first money saving tip …

Have you ever opened up a box of cereal to find that it is stale? We have been having a VERY humid summer which has caused not only odd looking “things” to pop up in my mom’s yard (check out the story she wrote about it http://trailerparkbarbie.wordpress.com/) but also has caused all of the cereal in my cabinet to go stale. My mom would yell at me right here that she was right and I should have bought one of those food sealer things that she has the love affair with.

My tip for reviving that stale cereal is to place it on a cookie sheet (I used my Pampered Chef Bar Pan) and place it in the oven on 350 for about 10-15 minutes until it crisps back up. The only cereal I can think of that this wouldn’t work for would be the ones that have marshmallows in them. Those cereals could be done but you would have to stand there and pick all the marshmallows out and I’m fairly sure that the payoff probably wouldn’t be worth the effort. Well unless of course you are sitting there watching your stories on the tube and have nothing better to do

One warning though, the cereal will make the air smell WONDERFUL.  Trailerpark GI Joe came out of his office ,from watching his hunting shows, (don’t I wish I were making that up) with gusto asking me what sort of awesome culinary treat I had prepared. He looked very confused to find Captain Crunch on a Baking Sheet and I can not quote what he said to me upon his disappointment because I don’t think they allow words like that on WordPress.
